Okay, so today at supper and we start talking about Dane Cook, and my step-mom askes who he is. My dad replied that he was some comedian that sweared alot. This got me thinking, why are swears so wrong? who decides whats a "bad word" and what isn't? what if I decide that I dont like the word "Jesus" (totally an example, don't get pissy at me Catholics) will it suddenly be a swear to me? Also, what makes these words so wrong? How can a word, A WORD, be so contraversial?

    anyways, whats your opinion?

Words do have meaning, and they can hurt. Words aren't just words. Though, I dont have a huge problem with swearing every now and then. What i dont like is when people swear 24/7. Its very unclassy and distasteful. Sometimes, using swear words can amplify what you are trying to get across. Other times, it can ruin the whole point. And what i hate is calling someone by a swear word to their face in a non-playful way. Idk, it really depends on the situation.
What makes swear words bad (to me) is when they insult or degrade a certain group of people. But, yeah, it depends.
